Solar & battery
EV charger installation in Parramatta
Charging from a power point works, and it is slow enough that most of it happens overnight on grid power at the worst rate of the day. A wall charger changes both halves of that: it charges quickly enough to use daylight, and it can be told to wait for it.
The install is an electrical job on your switchboard rather than an accessory you hang on a wall, so it gets looked at the same way a battery does.

01
Why the charger and the solar belong on the same visit
A car is the biggest single load most houses will ever add. Whether that lands on your solar or on your bill is decided by the setup, not by the car.
A charger that can read your system will soak up what the roof is making and back off when it is not. Left on a timer instead, it charges at whatever the meter is charging you at 2am.

What the install involves
- Look at the boardSpare capacity, the main switch rating and whether the supply will carry a charger alongside everything else the house runs.
- Pick the positionWhere the car actually parks and where the cable reaches without crossing a walkway.
- Run the circuitA dedicated circuit with its own protection, rather than sharing something that was never sized for it.
- Set the charging behaviourSo it favours your solar during the day and does not fight the battery at night.
- Show you how it runsIncluding how to override it on the day you need the car full by six.

Common questions
The ones that come up on nearly every first call, answered straight.
Not on the list? Call 1300 958 778 or send it through.
Can I just use the cable that came with the car?
You can, and it is fine occasionally. It is slow enough that most of the charging happens overnight on grid power, which is the expensive way to do it if you have solar on the roof.
Do I need solar to have a charger fitted?
No. It is a standalone electrical job. It is simply worth more when there is a system on the roof for it to draw from.
Will it work with the battery?
It should, and that is a setup question rather than a hardware one. The point is that the car does not empty the battery overnight unless you want it to.
Does my switchboard need upgrading?
Sometimes, and it is the first thing we check. Older boards in Parramatta houses often have no spare way and no room for one.
How long does the install take?
Most are a single visit. A board upgrade or a long cable run is the usual reason it becomes more than that.
