Solar inverter replacement
Panels usually outlast everything else on the roof. Inverters do not. A system installed in the early 2010s is very often a set of perfectly good panels attached to an inverter at the end of its life.
Replacing it is a far smaller job than replacing the system, and it is frequently what somebody has been quoted a whole new system for.

01
Signs your inverter is the problem
- Output has dropped noticeably without the panels being dirty or newly shaded
- An error code on the display, or a display that has gone blank
- The system drops out on hot afternoons and comes back later
- Monitoring has stopped reporting
- It is simply over ten years old and was never replaced

02
Replace the inverter, or upgrade the whole system?
Worth having as an actual conversation rather than a default. Two things push toward a fuller upgrade.
- Your original system is small by current standards, often 1.5kW or 3kW, and your usage has grown since.
- You want a battery, which usually means a hybrid inverter anyway.
If neither applies, replacing the inverter alone is the sensible answer and we will say so.

The ones that come up on nearly every first call, answered straight.

How long does an inverter replacement take?
Usually a few hours. It is a much smaller job than a full install.
Can I put in a bigger inverter than the old one?
Sometimes, but it is constrained by your array size and by what your network operator approves. We check both before quoting.
Will a new inverter give me more output?
It will restore what you lost to the failing one, and newer units are usually a little more efficient. It will not produce more than your panels can make.
Do I need a hybrid inverter?
Only if you are adding a battery now or intend to soon. If a battery is not on the horizon, you are paying for capability you will not use.
What if my original installer no longer exists?
That is a common situation and it does not stop us. We take on systems other companies installed, including ones where the brand has left the Australian market.
